Oppose Traffic Calming Obstructions

The Pismo Beach, California City Council
required traffic calming obstructions before they would give initial approval to a delayed housing project.
A controversial housing project that might grow the city by 312 homes and 182 acres over the next decade has cleared its initial hurdle from the Pismo Beach City Council.
After nearly six hours of debate, the council voted 4-0 at 1 a.m. Wednesday. By then, the crowd of 75 that had packed the meeting earlier had dwindled...
Wednesday's initial approval for the development included its specific plan with four conditions, the environmental study and two changes in the city's general plan needed for the project to move forward....
The four conditions the council added to the project plan include a 200-foot buffer between the property lines separating the development from Mankins' property and traffic-calming devices such as speed bumps at James Way, Ridge Road and three side streets.
Other conditions were a fire access gate for access to the Mankins property and confirmation of the traffic study that was completed in 2001.
"I felt comfortable with the water availability, the concessions made for traffic mitigation and the buffer provided for the Mankins property," Reiss said Wednesday....
