Oppose Traffic Calming Obstructions

Traffic calming is an election issue in
Madison, Wisconsin:
Endorsements: Palm for 15th District
00:00 am 4/06/05
Larry Palm has already demonstrated the potential to be an effective alderman for District 15. As co-chairman of the Eken Park Neighborhood Association and as a board member of the Friends of Starkweather Creek, he has been working on traffic safety projects, including plans to install traffic calming at the intersection of North Street and Commercial Avenue this summer, as well as on the cleanup of Starkweather Creek.
Palm is endorsed by an array of community leaders with diverse points of views, proving he is a uniter who will work for the common good.
Palm also understands the concerns of the district's residents about property taxes. He favors improving the City Council's efforts to establish spending priorities, with an eye toward controlling taxes.
His opponent, Lori Nitzel, has failed to show the same commitment to controlling city spending.
Lori Nitzel has
other ideas that (at least on the surface) won't affect emergency response:
Community Environmental Health
The quality of our environment is critical to our health and well-being in this city. I will work hard to expose the environmental hazards in our city that frustrate our abilities to live healthy lives by:
Preventing the pollution of our lakes and waterways;
Decreasing traffic by improving planning, offering transportation alternatives, and upgrading pedestrian and bike paths; and
Aggressively implementing measures for preserving shoreline and expanding public park land.
